Wigwe University offers scholarships to 100 students…commences activities September

Wigwe University has announced its poise to offer 100 scholarships to outstanding students as it prepares for resumption of activities in September, 2024.

The initiative, which is in fulfilment of the vision of the founder, the late Dr. Herbert Wigwe, is aimed at providing exceptional opportunities for students who aspire to become the next generation of courageous leaders in their areas of knowledge and innovation.

D’GalleryTV gathered that the merit-based scholarships is programmed to support students with exceptional academic achievements, leadership and entrepreneurship capabilities as well as a passion for continuous learning.

While it would reduce financial burden on parents and the students, the scholarship would also provide a conducive environment for scholars to thrive, innovate and make meaningful contributions to the society.

In honouring the legacy of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the university remains committed to upholding its vision of establishing a world-class institution in Nigeria that meets global standards.

Dr. Wigwe’s vision was to create a nurturing and innovative academic environment that engenders intellectual growth, critical thinking, and societal impact.

As the university commences activities, it would strive to continue its legacy by offering distinct educational experiences and fostering a community of scholars who would lead with integrity and excellence.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Marwan AI-Akaidi said that “this initiative emphasises commitment to providing quality education to all, regardless of their financial background, in line with the vision of our late founder, Dr. Herbert Wigwe.”

“By investing in our students, we are not only shaping the future of our institution but also nurturing a generation of fearless leaders,” he added.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have selected Wigwe University Isiokpo as their first choice and achieved a minimum score of 170 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Also, candidates must ensure that their qualifying results are uploaded to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal.

Candidates awaiting their O’level results are advised to upload them to JAMB as soon as they are available.

Candidates who did not choose Wigwe University as their first choice but meet the cut-off mark may apply, provided they make Wigwe University their first choice on the JAMB portal before the closure of the Change of Institution process.

However, the scholarship is not available to Direct Entry candidates.

Interested students are encouraged to apply through the Wigwe University portal.
