Tinubu’s one year in office: FCTA unveils free antenatal, health insurance for pregnant women in Abuja
The FCT Administration (FCTA) has unveiled a one-year free health insurance and antenatal care for pregnant women in Abuja to mark the first anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The FCT Mandate Secretary for Health Services and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who disclosed this on Monday when she visited the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Jibrin, said that the offer was a part of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to her, the programme was designed to meet the needs of the vulnerable in rural communities.
Fasawe was in the palace of the paramount ruler to sensitise the people towards maximising the potential of the medical outreach billed for Wednesday (tomorrow).
According to her, the privileged people would not be allowed to hijack the programme because it was targeted at the vulnerable residents of the FCT.
Fasawe also disclosed that there would also be free eye, dental and other health services as well as minor surgery for the people.
She said: “We are going to be giving free medical care, eye care, provide minor surgery and dental care,” she said.
“Pregnant women and their children will get free insurance for one year. Let not the privileged people deny the less privileged people,” she added.
“Let those who can afford the care allow the poor to get the free care. We don’t want chairman’s candidates, we want the poorest of the poor for the free antenatal.”
The Permanent Secretary, Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Babagana Adams, called on the council officials to mobilise the people who needed the services to come out en-masse and benefit.
Adams also said that there should be ethnic nor religious discrimination as the initiative was designed to serve all.
Earlier in his remarks, the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Jibrin, who commended the initiative, promised to support the outreach.
