Argh, 2024 was a wholesome year, and it delivered many things to which drama was power packed. 2024 served us with a whole lot of unnecessary but entertaining beef, especially from the entertainment industry. I guess they took the job of entertaining us so seriously, hence the unending drama.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST UNNECESSARY YET ENTERTAINING BEEF OF 2024
1. BURNA BOY AND SPEEDY DARLIGTON
The beef between Afrobeat singer Burna Boy (Odogwu) and our Presido started when American superstar P. Diddy got arrested for sex trafficking and other crimes. While raiding his home, about 1000 bottles of baby oil were found
Speed Darlington picked and trolled Odogwu online, asserting that his Grammy award was affiliated with Diddy; he dropped some defamatory speeches accusing Odogwu of bending over for the award; some of his defamatory speeches included one where he asked Odogwu how many bottles Diddy used on him
Odogwu normally, 'no dey to talk', so Burna boy stayed silent and then later had him arrested for defamation. Some netizens tagged it oppression because speedy Darlington was arrested at night with no formalities. It was more like an abduction cause people only got to know about his absence from his security guard, who raised the alarm, and from a cryptic post made by BURNA boy ''who is missing''. After some pleas and interventions from both online and offline fans especially with the help of his lawyer Barr. Deji Speedy, Darlington was released, but did he mind his business?
2. DAVIDO AND WIZKID
Will these two beef ever stop? I guess so, too. It seems to get intense as the day goes by, and trust fans to always ignite and make matters worse
Throwback to Wizkid concerts in 2017, Wizkid invited Davido onstage with him to perform “fia “So many thought that gesture had put to rest the antagonism between the two. Fast forward to April 2024, and the two were once more engaged in another duel that was initiated by Wizkid when he shared a controversial video of Davido on the X app, in the video was a vulnerable Davido on his knees sobbing and begging American model Bonita Maria for something best known to them.
It has been a long ride from there as some Davido crewmen and pals drop one or two subs for Wizkid, and Wizkid has, in return, repeatedly taken jabs at Davido via X on different occasions
3. THE OKOYE’s PSQUARE BROTHERS
Who remembers this duo? They did some hit songs those years; what went sour between this sweet Duo?
Many thought they had already made up for the long-standing beef, but they cleared our doubt when Paul Okoye (rudeboy) revealed that he had parted ways with his twin, Peter, best known as Mr P. The revelation came right after Mr P. said he was no longer interested in being part of the group.
Paul also shared that Mr. P petitioned him and their elder brother, Mr. Jude Okoye, who doubles as their manager to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Since then, both have been at loggerheads
4. BLESSING CEO AND SAIDABOJ
Blessing CEO, a self-acclaimed relationship expert, and Saidaboj, a controversial socialite, fell from a mother and daughter relationship to 'tiger gen,' always dragging each other at any provocation.
Well, the beef was started by Blessing. Saida gave her 2cents and wore what she could afford to an event, only for Blessing to set up a ring light and start picking on her supposed daughter, whom they say she’s supposed to address off-camera., so since then, both have been serving each other hot hot
In some of their banters, Saidaboj, in response to one of the B-Ceo videos of her, actually flung some unbelievable jabs at BlessingCEO. According to Saida, hunger made Blessing's parents give her out for marriage that early. She further accused the relationship expert of her father using her dowry to eat dinner.
5. IYABO OJO AND LIZZY ANJORIN
These two have always had reasons to trade words for the longest. This long-standing feud took a new dimension when Anjorin accused some actresses of using Mohbad's death to chase clout. Lizzy didn’t mention any name, but Iyabo was too convinced she was referring to her; since then, both actresses have used their social media platforms to trade barbs and engage in public spats. They both have a special name for each other; while Lizzy refers to Iyabo as 'Sepeteri,' Iyabo refers to Lizzy as 'Lizard.'
Lizzy also alleged that Iyabo owns the popular gossip blog Gistlover, which she claims has been spreading false information about her
The public spats got intense when Lizzy accused Iyabo of setting her up in some fraudulent clothes and gold transactions at Idumota market in Lagos state.
The allegations made Iyabo take up legal action against Lizzy for cyberbullying and Defamation; Lizzy never honored nor appeared at the scheduled court hearing.
The beef cools down a bit but is awakened immediately by Lizzy. She sees Iyabo’s daughter's engagement and love video. She continues from where she stops, cussing and dragging both Iyabo and her daughter, even Mr. Paulo, Iyabo’s lover; the two have been on each other’s neck.
Recently, Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram handle to issue a stern warning on Lizzy Anjorin, warning her to stay clear of her family and affair or she will learn the hard way
6. VDM AND FALZ
This beef was so unexpected, and absolutely no one saw this coming between rapper Falz and Activist Martin, better known as VDM.
It all started when VDM published a voice note made by Bobrisky, where Bobrisky alleged that some EFCC officials collected the sum of #15,000000 from him to drop the money laundering charges he was convicted of. In the same voice note, Bobrisky also alleged that a popular senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son assisted in getting the charges against him dropped and keeping him out of prison
VDM took to his social media platforms to express how disgusted he felt about the act; while expressing his disgust, Falz, who is a son to a SAN, gave him 24 hours to delete the defamatory post and retrace his steps, but VDM blatantly refused, he was charged to court and the case completely downhill from there
On several occasions, VDM has always referred to Falz as Daddy’s Boy, and his fans, too, call him that
