The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, on Thursday honoured police invitation at the headquarters of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office at Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja

The NLC chairman, who arrived at the office at exactly 10:17am, left at 11.15 am after writing his statement.
The police had last week invited Ajaero to the IRT headquarters on August 20 by 10 am to answer questions on allegations of his involvement in terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, treasonable felony and other related offences.
Ajaero, who could not honour the invitation as scheduled did today, Thursday.
He was accompanied by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).
Earlier in the morning, some Labour leaders had gathered at the headquarters of NLC in solidarity with Ajaero.
D’GalleryTV gathered that as early as 8am, the leaders started converging on the NLC HQ, Abuja, to rally support for the workers’ leader.
Videos posted on NLC’s official X handle had shown some labour leaders addressing some workers who were solidly behind the president.
The labour leaders are expected to lead a peaceful procession to the police facility where Ajaero will be interrogated.
There was a heavy presence of police operatives stationed few meters away from the NLC facility to maintain law and order.
On Wednesday, the General Secretary of the NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, disclosed that the Congress had directed all state chapters and affiliate members to mobilise members to support Ajaero.
According to Ugboaja, the directive urged members from across the states to mobilise and stage a peaceful procession to their respective state police commands and remain there until the interrogation was over.
