The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has delisted the Group D second-leg fixture of the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
The match had earlier been scheduled for Libya by 8.00pm on Tuesday after the first leg took place at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on last Friday when the Super Eagles beat Lybia 1-0 in the last minute of the encounter.
However, the return leg has been enmeshed in controversy, following the maltreatment meted out to Super Eagles and the team’s officials by the Lybian Government which ordered diversion of their flight and left the Nigerian contingent stranded for 14 hours at the Libya airport leading them to return home.
It is against this background that CAF delisted the game.
Meanwhile, CAF said it had launched an investigation into the incident after the Libya Football Federation alleged sabotage and threatened legal action against Nigeria.
CAF, however, updated games that would be played on Tuesday without including the Libya versus Nigeria game on its X handle.
