The Former adviser to Ex president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Professor Rufa’i Alkali has congratulated the governor of Gombe state, His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya as the State celebrates it’s 25th years of existence.
“I wish to heartily congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Executive Governor of Gombe State, the Government and the entire people of Gombe state on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the creation of Gombe State out of the old Bauchi State on the 1st of October 1996, by the Military Head of State, General Sani Abacha of blessed memory.
The professor noted the development and infrastructure that has being put in place since the creation of Gombe state by the Former Military head of state General Sani Abacha.
“We are proud to note that since the creation of our young State twenty five years ago, the state has, in comparative terms, developed exceedingly in various sectors of the economy, despite the huge challenges of governance. Indeed, the journey has just started. We therefore, have every reason to give thanks to the Almighty Allah.
I also wish to appreciate the wonderful contributions of the late Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Usman Abubakar, Leaders and members of the Movement for the Creation of Gombe State, other leading traditional leaders, members of the business community, the Ulama and the Clergy and other opinion leaders in the state in their individual and collective efforts in the creation of Gombe State. Their outstanding contribution and tireless efforts in keeping the people of the state together cannot be overemphasized.
I want to seize this opportunity to commend all our Governors in the state, both past and present, civil servants, members of the academic community, students and the vast majority of the people of Gombe for the great work they have done and have been doing for the state. Special mention must be made of the pioneer Military Administrator of Gombe State, Group Captain J. I. Orji who laid the foundation of Gombe Stare. The state wouldn’t have reached to this level, without the collective efforts, sacrifices and contributions of all these critical stakeholders in the state. For those our leaders who played decisive roles in the creation of Gombe State but who are no longer alive we shall continue to remember their glorious contributions and pray, may their souls rest in peace.
As we celebrate this silver jubilee, I pray for more years of togetherness amongst all our citizens of our dear state. I wish to call on all our great Gombe citizens to join hands in building a solid base for the future development of Gombe state.
In addition, I congratulate our compatriots on this special occasion of the 61st independence anniversary of our dear nation Nigeria.
He, however, appreciates all Nigerians for their commitments towards rebuilding thy nation and also implore all citizens across the country to brace up towards the forth coming general elections.
“We are proud of the commitments of all Nigerians to build and rebuild the country in the spirit of mutual respect, trust and accommodation.
I implore all our citizens across the country to shelve their swords and come together as we march into preparation for the 2023 general elections. We are better together”.
