NLC, TUC leaders meet FG over hike in fuel price
The leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress ( TUC) are currently meeting with representatives of the Federal Government at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, over the recent hike in fuel prices.
Officials at the meeting include the National Security Adviser; Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
Others include the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of State for Petroleum Heineken Lokpobiri; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; Ekperikpe Ekpo as well as representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
Hitherto, the Nigeria Labour Congress had decried the recent outrageous hike in the price of petrol nationwide.
The union which accused the government of focusing solely on fuel price increments, also demanded immediate reversal of the hike.
In a statement signed by its president, Joe Ajaero, the NLC called on the government to inform Nigerians of the destination it plans to take the country to in the wake of the current economic hardship.
