New Nigerian People Party NNPP’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso reveals that his party is in dialogue with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party LP and the part in order to form a coalition for 2023 presidential election.
The question whether Peter Obi will take the second place or Kwankwaso could be said to have had an answer.
Kwankwaso was a former governor of Kano and a former senator. Peter Obi was also a former governor of Anambra State. In Kwankwaso’s explanation, he acknowledged the fact that none of the two dominant political parties chose a running mate from the Southeast.
“The merger is important because as you can see both ruling All Progressive Congress, APC and the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP did not pick their running mates from the Southeast,” said Senator Kwankwaso.
This statement is a clear indication that Kwankwaso is searching for a running mate.
Apart from the obvious fact that the merger could end both candidates and parties at loggerheads, there is no legal ground provided for both parties to merge before 2023 general elections
