Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, House of Representatives, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, received the recently appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E, Mr. CUI Jianchun and some members of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Abuja.In a release signed by Special Adviser (Media and Public Affairs) to the Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs, House of Representatives, Nkem Anyata-Lafia, while highlighting the mutual benefits the two countries have enjoyed in the last fifty years of their diplomatic engagements, ranging from, Technology , Security, Education, Construction as well as Cultural Exchange and Trade, Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs, House of Representatives, Rt.Hon.( Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, described the current state of affairs between them as satisfactory.While commending the planned production of the COVID 19 vaccine in Nigeria by the Chinese Government, Rt. Hon. Buba said the initiative would, no doubt, open the door for further relations and deeper co-operation between the two countries in the years ahead. He expressed hope that efforts and development activities by the Chinese in Nigeria in the areas of Security, Industrialization, ICT, Infrastructural Development, hosting of annual trade fairs, development of more Free Trade Zones in the country as well as realizing the objective of building manufacturing hubs for job- creation for the nation's teaming youth will go a long way at enhancing co-operation and ties between the two countries and mitigating some of our current security challenges.In his remarks, the new Ambassador, H.E CUI Jianchun, informed the Committee that, since arriving Nigeria in late March, he has enjoyed and experienced the hospitality nurtured by the first fifty years during which his country and Nigeria have worked together. He promised to build on all the goodwill of the past fifty years ,which he has inherited in his new job, to enhance co-operation and friendship between China and Nigeria in all areas already identified and as they, specifically, relate to his 5-I Agenda of Infrastructure, ICT, Import/ Export, Integration and Industrialization enhancement.While promising that his country will continue to be a reliable, responsible and trustworthy partner to Nigeria, Amb. Jianchun said he would work for the both countries that are known to be leaders in both Africa and Asia to, through shared experiences, meet the demands of the people.
