FG introduces new electricity policy

The Federal Government (FG) has unveiled a new electricity policy. The policy borders on zero draft of National Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan.

It is aimed at addressing the pressing challenges within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry and set the nation on a path toward a stable, sustainable and inclusive power sector.

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during the presentation event.

According to him, “the policy is critical in our nation’s journey toward achieving a robust, sustainable and inclusive power sector that meets the aspirations of all Nigerians.”

The NIEP-SIP is a comprehensive policy document that outlines strategic interventions across the entire electricity value chain, from generation and transmission to distribution and off-grid segments.

“The journey leading up to today has been a collaborative and rigorous process driven by our collective commitment to addressing the pressing challenges within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry,” the minister said.

He added that the policy framework did not only respond to current realities but also anticipates future needs, to ensure that the power sector remains stable and efficient.
