FCT Police on red alert for escapees of Suleja inmates
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Ben Igwe, has expressed readiness to recapture the inmates who escaped from the Suleja Correctional Centre last week as tight security has been beefed up all around the Territory to monitor them.
One hundred and nineteen inmates escaped from the Centre last week after a rainstorm pulled it down.
In an exclusive interview with Crowther Radio in Abuja, Igwe urged the residents of the Territory to assist security agencies in providing useful information about any escapee who may want to take cover at the FCT.
He urged residents to report any suspected personality to the police and not to accommodate unknown strangers for now.
Igwe assured that his men would nab any escaped inmates that may make the mistake of hiding in FCT, just as three of Kuje’s escaped inmates were arrested recently and sent back to the facility three days ago.
He warned the escapees not to think of entering the nation’s capital as his men were ready to fish them out.
The CP told the residents that the police were working with the Nigeria Correctional Service to expose the identity of the escapees for proper action.
