EFCC invites VDM, Bobrisky over bribery allegation
The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede has ordered an immediate investigation of alleged bribery allegations against some officers of the Commission by the controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, a.ka. Bobrisky, in a viral voice note circulated online by Martins Otse, a.k.a VeryDarkMan (VDM).
In a trending viral video, VDM had claimed that the voice recording he played belonged to Bobrisky who claimed in the video that he paid some unnamed officers of the EFCC the sum of N15m to drop money laundering charges against him.
Bobrisky has, however, denied the allegation and described it as fake, big lie and should be discarded.
In a statement, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said Bobrisky and VDM had been invited to its Lagos Directorate for investigation.
“The EFCC chairman has ordered an immediate investigation of alleged bribery allegations imputed to some officers of the Commission by Idris Okuneye(a.ka. Bobrisky) in a viral video circulating across the country,” Oyewale said.
“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a team of investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators in unearthing the alleged bribery.”
Oyewale, however, assured Nigerians that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly. The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism and collaboration at all times.”
