Customs Command’s revenue hits N12m per month…attributes success to CGC’s quality leadership

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Command, Idiroko Border, has recorded a revenue increase from N77 million to N12 million per month..

Comptroller James Ojo attributed the feat to the quality leadership style of the Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, which also encourages officers to excel.

Account to him, the Command had made remarkable strides in anti-smuggling activities, seizures and revenue generation without recording any casualties.

Ojo stressed the importance of intelligence gathering and community engagement in achieving such results.

Meanwhile, the Command has also improved its relationship with the border communities with a view to enhancing smooth operations for improved service.

Comptroller Ojo also synergizes relationships with traditional rulers and stakeholders to address concerns and promote cooperation between communities and the command.

Comptroller Ojo, however, noted that rice importation remained banned through the land border in line with the Federal Government policies aimed at promoting local rice production.

He lauded the CGC’s leadership, which was marked by improved welfare, timely salary payments, and promotions as key motivators for officers.

Ojo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold steps in policy decisions that guarantees Customs’ increased successes in its operations.

He, however, urged patience among the citizenry as measures are being taken to ensure the government’s fulfilment of its import-duty-free policy to checkmate the current inflation in the country.
