Crisis response: Police alert residents of security drill around Abuja train station

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has alerted residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) about a crisis response simulation exercise billed for Thursday, November 28, 2024.

The drill organised in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, will take place around Idu Train Station between 9.00 am till 2.00 pm.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to the statement, the exercise was a part of the Federal Government’s efforts to prepare security forces in tackling security threats across the country.

“In furtherance of efforts in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in Nigeria, the Federal Government has initiated a joint operation and training exercise to prepare security forces to respond appropriately and adequately to security threats in Nigeria.

“In this regard, the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday, 28th November 2024, from 9am to 2pm,” the statement read.

Adejobi advised the residents not to panic during the exercise which, he said, would feature heavy sounds of explosives in a “controlled environment.”

The police also assured the public that the simulation would not poses any danger as it was designed to test emergency response capacity and capabilities.
