Bobrisky dropped from Amsterdam-bound KLM flight, arrested
Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by Immigration officers late on Thursday night in an attempt to flee the country.
In a post on his Instagram page, the popular cross-dresser alerted his followers about the arrest.
He stated that he had sustained injuries during an altercation with the Immigration officers.
He, however, alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was responsible for his detention.
“Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.
Recall that Bobrisky was intercepted at the Sème border on October 22 while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
His naira abuse offence marked the beginning of the controversy surrounding him when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for the offence.
Although he was officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports later allegedly said that he spent only three weeks in prison before he was subtly moved to a private location.
This triggered speculation that his early release and special treatment were allegedly facilitated through ₦15 million bribe to officials to secure his transfer and preferential treatment.
The situation escalated in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan posted an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky.
In the leaked recording, Bobrisky purportedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, had approached him during his imprisonment and sought ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon.
In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on 16 October 2024 and demanded a retraction and public apology for defamation.
But Bobrisky denied making the claims and urged the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
