Deborah’s Generation Family Ministry With Ene is a Christian organisation which vision and mission are preoccupied with restoration of marriages and families to God’s order. The ministry also empowers families, especially women, to fulfil their purposes.
In this interview, the founder, Pastor (Mrs) Ene Ojimba, speaks glowingly about the ministry, the impacts it has been making in line with fulfilment of its vision and mission as well as the forthcoming Parenting Convergence organised by the ministry in Abuja on November 9.
When you empower women, what particular spirits of Deborah do you inspire and instil in them?
Women empowerment is one of our cardinal objectives in the vision and mission that Deborah’s Generation Family Ministry is out to fulfil and we do this passionately with the desired results.
Basically, we inspire and instil the spirit of courage and boldness as in Judges 4:6-9. We also inspire and instil the spirit of wisdom and discernment demonstrated by Deborah in Judges 4:5. “And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in Mount Ephraim and the children of Israel came up to her for judgement.”
We equally instil and inspire the spirit of leadership and initiative exemplified by Deborah when she judged Israel even as a woman as in Judges 4:4.
We inspire and instil the spirit of faith and trust in God as in Judges 4:14. Resilience and perseverance as in Judges 4:10 is another spirit that we also inspire and instil in women.
All these qualities and spirits were conspicuously evident in Deborah’s life which we try as much as possible to replicate in women whom we encourage to participate in our programmes.
What testimonies do you have to share of the outcomes of the empowerment and inspiration from the women you have impacted through your programme?
Scores of women who have the privilege of participating in our programmes have several records of positive outcomes. In fact, numerous women have shared testimonies of increased confidence and self worth or esteem as well as ability to interface with others in order to achieve certain purposes. They also share testimonies of improved relationships with their spouses, children, friends and close associates.
Enhanced leadership skills and community impact in their homes and environment, spiritual growth and deeper faith in their walk with God and work for God, breakthroughs in careers and entrepreneurship are also testimonies of our empowerment programmes.
There are diverse cases of broken homes due to divorce occasioned by infidelity in particular. What are other causes and how do you address them to ensure restoration?
We have come to realize that the major causes of broken homes are lack of fear of God, selfishness, pride, lack of satisfaction, communication breakdown, lack of intimacy and connection, financial stress, infidelity, unrealistic expectations.
But interestingly, we have been able to address these issues and help restore peace among couples through the word of God, counseling and coaching, workshops and seminars, support groups, prayer and spiritual guidance.
Many Christian homes do not live by their names or Christin identity they claim. They can only be identified because they carry bibles or go to church but are not true Christians. How do you use Deborah principles to nurture them to become true Christians and fulfil purposes?
By following Deborah’s steps, as the Lord helps us, we encourage personal relationship with God. We do this by fostering healthy communication in homes, building spiritual intimacy, equipping couples with the requisite knowledge needed and promoting servant-leadership relationship.
How do you inspire right marriages among singles to save them from wrong marriage regrets after marriage?
A healthy and happy family begins with God-ordained right marriage. Such marriage does not have regret. The couple is happy and fulfilled. That is why we are also concerned about and carry out singles programmes. We inspire right marriages among singles through
pre-marital counseling, relationship workshops, mentorship programmes, prayer and guidance, networking events, particularly meet and greet time out.
We have been recording positive results as married couples have been sharing testimonies of their right marriages inspired by our programmes.
What driving force propelled you into the ministry? Any challenges or regrets?
We are driven by God’s calling and undiluted passion for strong marriages and family restoration. However, we face challenges common to many young ministries, especially limited resources, resistance to change because some people are set in their bad ways and refuse to let go.
Balancing ministry and personal life is also one of the challenges. At times, this can be quite overwhelming, but thank God for His grace that is always available for us to rely on. We don’t have regrets because God’s grace sustains us.
Based on the background of your ministry, it is crystal-clear that you are also a marriage counsellor. To what extent do you create time to undertake marriage counseling programmes? How can people that need the service reach you?
We offer marriage enrichment programmes, private counseling sessions, group therapy and online support. We can be reached on 08033359397 through SMS only.
To what extent are you fulfilled in your ministry?
I can boldly say and by God’s grace that I am extremely fulfilled, especially because we achieve our vision and mission. We also witness transformed lives and families, stronger marriages, balanced couples whose marriages are thriving according to Gof’s order and homes where God’s kingdom activities flourish.
What special testimonies do you have to share on the outcomes of your ministry since inception?
There are countless testimonies of restored marriages. A couple’s marriage was just a minute to collapse but thank God for His timely intervention when I encountered them. Currently, the wife is pregnant for her husband.
A husband had reported his heavily pregnant wife that she didn’t follow his instructions and for that reason, he wanted divorce. But when I stepped into the matter for counseling, the Lord helped me to restore the marriage.
We have testimonies of women that have been empowered and excelling in their family life, transformed families as well as spiritual growth, all of which keep their homes strong and healthy.
What is your Parenting Convergence event coming up in Abuja on November 9 all about?
Proverbs 22:6 ; declares: “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Looking at the humongous depravity common among the youths of today, you would agree with me that the Parenting Convergence programme is apt. It’s a convergence like no other for about-to-be parents, caregivers, focusing on effective parenting in such a time as this, child development and family discipleship.
The programme will hold at Abundant Touch Bible Mission. Zone 4. No.124. Opposite Dutse Pe Palace, Gwari Town Hall, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja by 9.00 am. Participants can follow us on social media: (Facebook..Family Matters withEne Tv]. They can also subscribe to our YouTube channel…Family Matters with Ene Tv or chat us up on 08033359397 so that we can build stronger families and inspire a Godly generation.
Give a brief background of how Deborah’s Generation Family Ministry began.
Deborah’s Generation Family Ministry began in June 2009, three months after I had my last child. The Lord gave me the vision to restore marriages and families to God’s order and also empower families inspired by Deborah’s courageous leadership. Since inception, I have been following God’s instruction passionately in fulfilling the mandate and by His special grace, the vision is being realized enormously.
