The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said that change of name would no longer be a requirement for married female corps members seeking redeployment.
This is contained in a circular signed by the service’s Director Corps Mobilisation, Abubakar Mohammed, and issued to directors, Ag. Directors State and Federal Capital Territory, FCT Coordinators.
According to the circular dated November 25, 2024, titled: “Review of Criteria for Concessional, Deployment/Relocation for Married Female Corps members,” the management had approved review of criteria for approval of concessional deployment/relocation of married female corps members.
The circular added that state coordinators would henceforth be informed that changing a maiden name to that of a spouse is no longer a requirement for the approval of such request by married female corps members.
The circular which also insisted that other requirements remained the same, urged state/FCT coordinators to ensure strict compliance with the directives, while directors of area offices should monitor the implementation.
