FG declares Tuesday public holiday to mark Independence Day
Tuesday, October 1, 2024, has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government (FG) to mark the nation’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.
This was announced on Saturday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Saturday in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
While wishing Nigerians a happy Independence Day anniversary, the minister urged the citizens to remain steadfast in nation-building.
Tunji-Ojo who congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion, praised them for their resilience and hard work, stressing that their sacrifices would not be in vain.
Tunji-Ojo, however, urged them to reflect on the labour of past heroes and remain committed to the tasks ahead, “realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”
