Ndume rejects new office after sack as Senate Whip
The senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, has turned down the new office allocated to him by the Senate Services Committee.
According to parliamentary practices, Ndume is expected to move to another office.
This is coming on the heels of his sack as the Whip of the Senate.
D’GalleryTV said that Ndume was asked to vacate his current office and move to the third floor to allow for the new Whip, Senator Tahiir Mongonu, to take over the office.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman, Senate Services Committee, Senator Sunday Karimi, on Tuesday, Ndume said his new office did not commensurate with his seniority at the Senate.
The letter signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Shuaibu Gawu, read: “I am directed to inform you that, Distinguished Senator Mohammed All Ndume, has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee.”
“This is because offices are traditionally allocated on a seniority basis.”
“Sen Ndume is the most Senior Senator after Sen Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor,” the letter added.
Recall that Ndume was in a letter by the All Progressive Party co-signed by the Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, recently sacked from his position as Chief Whip of the Senate.
