The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, has secured Hungary’s willingness to sell drones to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) with a view to addressing security challenges in the Territory and has presented a proposal for collaboration for actualisation.
The minister disclosed this when a Hungarian envoy, Endre Deri, visited him in his office in Abuja on Thursday.
Wike assured that the process of procuring drones was on and declared his readiness to collaborate in the area of drones.
“For us, it has been in our procurement process to have drones but unfortunately I am not an expert. I will let the security experts that are in charge have a discussion with your experts so that they would identify the type of drones that are effective and efficient in our own area,” he noted. Whether we want some drones, yes there is no going back, he said.
The envoy said his country could assemble drones in the FCT and that they would be ready to train the residents in drone assembling.
While expressing delight that the FCT had been able to fight insecurity to the barest minimum, Wike, however, said that the major issue that required urgent priority was food security.

“The issue of agriculture is very key and I know your country is doing well in agriculture. We can collaborate and partner in terms of PPP. We are willing to provide land if you can reach concerned stakeholders and we can start the process and know what they intend to produce in order to address the issue of food insecurity on FCT,” Wike said.
He added: “On security, we don’t have issues because we have been able to reduce the incidents of insecurity. You too can attest to the fact that Abuja is safer now, because of the way we have been able to tackle the issue.”
The envoy commended the minister for his remarkable achievements within a short period of assumption of office.
