One dead as gas explosion wrecks havoc in Ogun

A truck conveying Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exploded in Abeokuta yesterday, leaving one person dead and four vehicles burnt completely in the tragedy.

The explosion occurred around 4: 15 p.m. (WAT) at the Ita- Oshin axis of Abeokuta metropolis.

D’Gallery gathered that the foundations of several residential buildings where the incident occurred were shaken to their foundations by the explosion, leaving many of them with shattered louvres and glass doors.

We also gathered that the driver of the gas-laden truck which was coming from its depot in Obada–Oko axis of Abeokuta metropolis, engaged in an altercation with the driver of another truck over a right of way in the axis and lost control of his steering, making the truck to crash on the road median at Ita- Oshin.

Head of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) team, Deputy Superintendent of Fire Service (DSF), Adeoye Adegoke, confirmed that the only victim of the explosion was the motor boy of the gas-laden truck.
