JUST IN: Aisha Buhari Lied On Old Naira Notes Extension- CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has accused Mr. President wife Aisha Buhari’s , and other Nigerians of spreading false information about the extension of old N200, 500, and N1,000 notes as legal tender in the country.

The CBN urged Nigerians to disregard the post made by the president’s wife and other social media pages, describing the information as false.

The apex bank emphasized that President Muhammadu Buhari’s only directive was that the N200 notes be reissued and recirculated in order to alleviate the scarcity of naira notes across the country.

In a post on the CBN’s official social media handle, the apex bank warned Nigerians to be wary of fake news on social media.
The bank did not name the president’s wife, but claimed that anyone posting information about a 70-day extension of the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes was misleading the public.

The apex bank also referred Nigerians to a statement issued by its Director, Corporate Communications Department, Osita Nwanisobi, on the extension of the N200 notes.
