EXCLUSIVE: SEX, THE PASSAGE OF RETURN TO GOD FOR MANY

Years ago, at somewhere very popular within one of the Nigerian biggest cities, precisely a fueling station. Passengers and passers-by used the fueling station as means to reach their various destinations. The passengers trooped into the fueling station to take taxis bound for different destinations while passers-by walked across to shorten their distances.

Two men were standing at a spot very close to one of the entrances of the fueling station. The younger was selling something which he didn’t care who saw it and who is or is not interested in it. The older one was close to 60 years of age, asking for details of one of the products the young man was selling. The older man wanted a private bargain. He lowered his voice as he made his inquiries. I didn’t care because it was a public place so I moved closer, listened to their conversation and took a look at the products exhibited. I was dazed by what I saw. They were products of sexual enhancement of different kinds and sizes. I looked at the old man, he was half hoary headed and looked very close to 60.

Sexually enhancing one’s organs for sexual pleasure is a suicide mission that will not only stigmatise and embarrass who dies in the act but his or her family.

The use of these drugs accounts for the reason many old men, and now young people in different cities, towns and villages drop dead during or immediately after sexual act. Sadly, only few of such are on the news as many are dying as a result. Those who made it through never remained the same again after the act. If they didn’t end up with kidney problems, it will be something else but eventually they would die.

Oromidayo, a sound Civil Engineering undergraduate student of Polytechnic of Ibadan lost his life in this act of drug-induced marathon sex with his girlfriend few days ago. If we recall sometimes ago, a youngsters of Federal University of Technology, Owerri and a female student of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede died under the same circumstance of drug-induced sex romp.

The drug taken in most cases apart from alcohol and other drugs has always been Tramadol.

Medically, Tramadol can only be used for a relief of severe or moderate pain for a short time when other forms of non-opioid pain relief fail to manage the pain. It works in the body by interrupting how one’s nerves signal pain between the brain and the body. The bottom line is, Tramadol has life-threatening inhalation and exhalation problem and the risk is very high.

How the young and the old crave for sex and relying on drugs and alcohol to have sex in our society should be a serious concern for every academic and non-academic institution. No wonder the rate of heart, kidney, liver, bladder related diseases among teenagers and adults is getting worse as the numbers increase astronomically.

The sad news of our days now is, sex that should be a blessing for pleasure between two married people and for procreation is now a smooth passage to an embarrassingly untimely death. The government and families have to rise up.
