MARKHACK 1.0: CLOSING CEREMONY AND THE REVEALING OF THE MEDIA AND MARKETING HACKATHON WINNER.
Mark hack 1.0 in collaboration with GDM Group, EXMAN, and EKO INNOVATION CENTRE gathered innovators, entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, marketing and media practitioners, Industry thought leaders, policymakers, and marketing and media stakeholders at the mark hack 1.0 closing ceremony which took place at D’ Podium, Ikeja, Lagos state on Wednesday 18th May 2022. Mark Hack 1.0, An information technology company owned by Mr victor Afolabi is focused on the areas of interest in media and marketing, consumer experience, consumer interaction and recruitment, media consumption, trade & retail engagement, analytics and metrics, and event marketing, media monetization, and content creation.
The closing ceremony successfully kicked off with an open remark by Mr victor Afolabi- curator of mark hack 1.0, who said marketing and media landscape is a very powerful industry that shapes opinion, and perceptions, drives narratives, creates demand, and ultimately is the major driver of the economy of any organization for consumers demand and purchases.
Seeing how technology has disrupted global industries all over the world, They perceived the marketing and media industry was ripe for disruption, however, there are two things 1. collaborate with stakeholders in the industry to create the disruption they anticipate, or 2. They allow the disruption to happen to the m&m.
But they chose to collaborate with 100 different organizations to co-create the disruption they anticipate for. And a goodwill message by Mr. Gbenga omotosho, Honorable commissioner, of the Lagos state ministry of information and strategy. The Hackathon saw 10 developers compete for twenty thousand dollars total prize. Ten thousand dollars for the first winner, four thousand dollars for the second winner, third winner for three thousand dollar prizes with experts present as judges to select the best solution.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Idorenyen Enang- president of, national institute of marketing of Nigeria said the industry is in space, where they get the fundamentals right, it is in such space where the average marketing person believes that he can communicate whether he is into digital or other forms of marketing space doesn’t make one a marketer. Consumer marketing has a process and is important that one should understand the fundamentals, the fundamental allows one to utilize the vehicle of digital, advertising, and trade marketing for one to reach its ultimate customer consumer.
He also said that marketers should learn that marketing starts and ends by creating demands, and fulfilling demands at a profit. Also present at the event is Mr, Steve Babaeko, the CEO of Extreme Ideas & president, an association of Advertising Agencies Of Nigeria (AAAN), Mr. Tunji Adeyinka- president, EXMAN, Mrs. Osarugwe Awani, VP of marketing Terragon and others. The event came to conclusion as the CEO and team of live bic, emerged the winner out of 10 exhibitors at the ceremony taking the $10 thousand prize home.
