On Saturday 18th December 2021, Dr. O’Diakpo Obire, President Good Leadership Advocacy for Africa (GLAFA) was a guest of President Ernest Koroma of Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 in his country home in Makeni, Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media and publicity; he said Dr. Obire discussed with His Excellency, President Earnest Koroma, the unity of Africa, the need for Africa to have better leadership by electing leaders that are visionaries, selfless and determined to make positive change with the future in mind as this is the condition precedent to Africa rising to its challenges and overcoming them.
Additionally, they discussed the possibility of Africa as a continent becoming economically self-sustaining and viable. This can come to pass in short order if AU can activate the trade agreements signed by leaders of Africa countries.
Dr. Obire canvassed that Africans should begin to work towards a border less continent without artificial national boundaries. The borders between every single one of Africa’s nation states have kept the continent’s markets small and anaemic, unlike in Europe where two-thirds of the European Union’s trade is internal, ensuring that the majority of resources and capital remain within the continent. This is the model that Africa should adopt.
His Excellency President Koroma commended the efforts of GLAFA under Dr. O’Diakpo Obire’s leadership and prayed that more determined, selfless and African leaders emerge to sustainably develop the continent.
