US 2020 Election Live updates: “Outrageous and unprecedented”- Biden campaign manager blasts Trump’s threat of going to supreme Court to stop ballot counting
Joe Biden’s campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon has issued a strongly worded statement following President Trump’s White House speech on Wednesday morning, claiming electoral victory prematurely.
Trump speaking during election night in the East Room of the White House on November 4 announced he had won the election and that he will be going to the Supreme Court to stop ballot counting from continuing in some states saying Democrats were trying to ‘steal the election’
Jen O’Malley Dillon has now issued a strongly worded statement blasting Trump. According to her, Trump’s statement was “outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect.”
She called it a “naked effort to take away the democratic rights of American citizens”
“The president’s statement tonight about trying to shut down the counting of duly cast ballots was outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect. It was outrageous because it is a naked effort to take away the democratic rights of American citizens,” she said in the statement.
“The counting will not stop.” O’Malley Dillon added.
As at press time, Biden leads in the general election but key votes from battle ground states are still being collated, meaning the election could sway either way.
